Bile duct stones, also known as choledocholithiasis, are basically gallstones present in the bile duct. These stones can form in the bile duct or in the gallbladder when they migrate into the bile duct.
Once stone gets stuck in the bile duct and causes blockage, medical intervention is required or else it can result in severe infection and can be fatal.

Mostly asymptomatic
Blockage causes the following symptoms:
- Irregular severe abdominal pain can occur which can last for hours
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Fever
- Jaundice
